Volunteer Expectations and Responsibilities

Volunteers are expected to represent SEWA-AIFW positively:

  • You should be familiar with our mission and programs and be comfortable representing them to others.

Volunteers are expected to be reliable and dependable:

  • You are expected to arrive on time, follow through on your commitments to SEWA and perform your job to the best of your ability.

Volunteers are expected to abide by SEWA-AIFW’s confidentiality agreement:

  • Information learned about staff, volunteers and clients must be kept confidential.

Volunteers are expected to act respectfully and ethically in all activities

Volunteers are expected to set their own hours for volunteering and inform the program directors or volunteer coordinator of these hours.

  • SEWA volunteers are free to volunteer for any number of hours they wish, in any program and at any events; however, you must inform the program directors and volunteer coordinator of these hours and follow through on your commitment to those hours.

Volunteers are expected to attend at least 3 meetings or phone conference a month.

  • Our meetings are essential to keep everyone informed about updates, new projects and events and new information pertinent to the organization. Attendance at these meetings will help you to learn about SEWA and facilitate team building and cooperation within our team.

Volunteers are expected to attend and assist with SEWA events.

  • In addition to your volunteer work within specific programs, volunteers are expected to attend and assist with general events. Without our volunteers we could not host events successfully.

Volunteers are expected to become familiar with the SEWA office and resource files.

  • It is important that all volunteers become aware of the resources SEWA is able to provide in order to be able to provide these resources if necessary.

Volunteers are expected to aid in office assistance on a regular basis.
